ABOUT

Nicola Johns
Paediatric Occupational Therapist

I am a passionate paediatric Occupational Therapist based in Oxshott, Surrey and working within surrounding areas (Oxshott, Cobham, Esher, Leatherhead, Surbiton and Wimbledon). I studied my Masters in Occupational Therapy in Australia and have worked with children with a range of challenges in London since 2009.  I specialise in assessing and treating children aged between 3 and 11 years with handwriting and fine motor difficulties.  I also see children who have sensory processing, attention, coordination, postural and emotional regulation difficulties to help them achieve their full potential. I am an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner (trained by SI Network UK) and have post-graduate training in Developmental Coordination Disorder/Dyspraxia, handwriting interventions, visual stress, sound-based therapy (Quickshifts), and Makaton signing.   I use a sensory integrative frame of reference combined with task-specific and developmental approaches.  Sessions are delivered in your child's school to ensure therapy is well-integrated into everyday environments.  I strongly believe therapy should be fun and that it is important to provide a gentle, caring and playful atmosphere in all sessions in order to get the best results.  I believe it is important to provide the ‘just right’ challenge and to break down activities so that every child has the opportunity to feel successful.
